WASHINGTON, Jan 28 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama said on Friday he had spoken with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and urged him to keep his promises to work toward greater democracy and greater economic opportunity for his people.

"What's needed now are concrete steps that advance the rights of the Egyptian people," Obama told reporters at the White House.
