Direct action on climate change

In 2019, a movement of "Extinction Rebellion" protesters demanding rapid, deeper action to curb climate change has rippled around the world. With local chapters in many countries, their hallmark is non-violent direct action out on the streets, often blocking roads and seats of government in major cities. The activists - many of them older people - justify the resulting disruption by saying an urgent response to an accelerating climate "emergency" is required to protect the planet for future generations.
