Urban nomads: Mongolian herders face cultural and climate change on road to new future

ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia - This Thomson Reuters Foundation film follows two nomadic herding families. Each one has a foot in the traditional nomadic herding life and another in the capital as herders have been driven to the city by cultural, political and climate change. Ulaanbaatar struggles to breathe amid heavy air pollution brought on by coal burning stoves in traditional herders tents that surround the city. 

"The air pollution has got so bad that it's a threat to national security," said Batbayasgalan Jantsan, deputy mayor of Ulaanbaatar.
