Video Blog: YouTube reflections of a transgendered life

A selection of YouTube videos highlighting the world transgendered people live in

There are thousands of videos on YouTube about transgender people, and while sifting through, I came across some stories that were interesting and some that were troubling. But what was most disturbing were the harsh comments made on many videos, which illustrate the tough world transgendered people live in.

Here are a few videos I found most informative, including one about the world’s youngest transsexual. There’s also a 2007 photographic film about transgender children, and a tragic true story about a teenager murdered in 2002.

The challenges and discrimination faced by transgender people come through loud and clear in the videos out there. But so too does the slowly emerging global awareness that everyone should have the right to be themselves.
