ISTANBUL, June 22 (Reuters) - A remote controlled roadside bomb killed two Turkish police officers in the eastern province of Tunceli on Wednesday, news channels reported.
Police and military helicopters, backed by ground troops, were searching the area after the blast which drew no immediate claim of responsibility.
The outlawed militant group PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) has declared what it calls an "active defence" stance after ending a 6-month ceasefire in February. The PKK launched an insurgency in 1984 to carve an independent Kurdish area in the southeast.
